Rhythm Changes
Curated by Alexander Fan and held at Blank Gallery between May 11 to May 29, 2023.
‘Rhythm Changes’ is a group exhibition showcasing a collection of works from a range of artists that are influenced by the sounds of jazz music. Reflecting Jazz as the theme in their bodies of work, ‘Rhythm Changes’ seeks to highlight the beauty of Jazz through a collection of visual representations. Each work captures the energy and spontaneity of Jazz, using bold colours, expressive lines, and improvisational techniques.
‘Rhythm Changes’ seeks to explore the diversity of using Jazz as a subject matter for art, showcasing a variety of styles and approaches to the theme. The works will range from abstract to representational, from minimalist to detailed, and from traditional to experimental. The common thread that ties them together is the theme of Jazz as subject matter to create powerful and expressive images.
‘Rhythm Changes’ is a celebration of the rich history and enduring legacy of jazz music, as seen through the eyes of some of talented and visionary artists.
